I’m not into celebrations imposed by society, but Father’s Day was a good excuse to enjoy Barcelona with my love as “singles” after spending the day with our daughter Manuela.
It was a night plan between the Gótico and the Raval quarters. We started at the Dos Palillos restaurant, enjoying exquisite tapas and delicious “cañas” served in Japanese pottery glasses. The taste and temperature of the beer made it impossible not to repeat! Being awarded with a Michelin Star, it still keeps the typical Raval character and authentic look. I find Albert Raurich (the chef) slightly naughty. A personality that shows through in this space and in his way of doing. That’s what attracts me the most from his work. We started with the chef’s version of sunomono, macerated shellfish and seaweed. Delicious!
I love the mix of sophistication in the dishes with the naughty and funny deco. Those fishes are fake!
Shrimp and King crab gyozas.
The desserts: coconut sponge cake and Thai leaf with a delicious acid taste.
Walking through the narrow streets of the Gótico, we got back to the Neri Hotel. I chose it because it’s located in my favorite square of the city, Sant Felip Neri square. The night finished between laughs and beers (better not to mix!), until we were the last ones in the hotel’s bar.
