One of the things that really got me hooked on the practice of Ashtanga yoga is its fluidity and how the postures flow into each other, synchronising breath with movement. The Mysore style, which I practise, is a self-practice of established sequences, which I have recently given myself the liberty to experiment with, fusing it with two of the things that I like most: dancing and music.
Music is visceral; it is the universal language of the heart. It connects me and it moves me. It guides my movements organically, carrying me away, and allowing me to flow and enter a state of complete freedom. This is my goal when I turn yoga into dance.
This video is an exercise in which I reveal an intimate moment. Intimate because it shows a free practice, one in which there is no judgement or embarrassment, one that is removed from the rationalization of practice. It is a moment of expansion in which I let my senses take control of this dance directed by music.
In the videos I’m flowing with the song Première Gymnopédie by Erik Satie. Find below a small selection of my other favorite songs for yoga flow.
Namaste,
